Questionnaire Results

This is the questions that we used in our Questionnaire. They were used to consider an audience, the public view on thrillers as well as expectations from thriller movies.
Media Studies Film questionnaire
1) How old are you?
(3 people from 16-21, 2 people from 22-27, 28-33= 4 people, 34-39= 1 person.)
The age range gives us a good idea and a very good base for the rest of our results. A few problems to note is the nobody are over 40, or below 16. This could result in some sheltered results, that is, not a proper set of results, but it's nothing really worth redoing them over.
2) What is your gender?
6 people asked were Male, 4 people were Female.
Whilst not a fully balanced set of results, it is 60/40%, though the fact it might skewer the results slightly.
3) What is your favourite movie genre?
2 (1 Female, 1 Male) people said Action, 3 (1 Female, 2 Male) people said Thriller, 1 (1 Male) person said Comedy, 4 (2 Female, 2 Male) people said Romance.
This gives us an idea of what movie genres are popular. Looking at these results, it seems almost surprising that Romance is the most popular choice and Comedy being the lowest. Noting these answers, it seems hard that we could incorporate any form of Romance into our Thriller Movie opening, especially as a bait-and-switch opening doesn't hold any shock value or it might completely misguide people going to see it.
4) What are your views on thrillers?
5 people held favourable views on Thrillers, 2 people held negative views on thrillers, 3 people were indifferent to thrillers.
The five favourable views helps to bring to us that thriller movies are held aloft, and reasoning for this could be simply from how well Thriller movies have done recently. The two negative views, in depth, both of them said along the lines that most of the time there was no real depth to what they were watching.
5) What is your favourite thriller film?

2 people said Batman, 1 person said The Amazing Spider man, 3 people said The Avengers, 2 people said Vertigo, 1 person said The Dark Knight, and 1 person said The Dark Knight Rises.

Recent superhero movies, it seems, are good chart for Thriller movies to be good. The 2 people who said Batman did not say which one, which leaves a whole range of films there. The 2 people who said Vertigo were in the 28-33 age range. Something that was skewered and the person admitted it to me, that the Amazing Spider-Man was the last movie he watched so he just picked that one.
6) What do you expect from a film opening?
7 people said along the lines of establishing the film premise, 1 person also said about fake openings and 2 people suggested starting at the end.
The seven people who said establishing the film premise stretched over the age bracket, so it wasn't just a young people or an old people thing. The one person who said with a fake-out opening belonged to the 22-27 age brackets. The two people who said starting the end, it could be incorporated into this thriller opening.
7) What music do you expect in a thriller film?
8 people said suspenseful and dark music, 2 people said rarely any music at all.
Suspensful and Dark music is most likely the way, and with popular choice-

These results give us a good idea of what people want and have seen, as well as the kind of expectations we face. I will do a blog post later analysing the results properly.
